Fraud, weapons incident top police reports last week
On Oct. 6 at 2:50 a.m., officers of the Oxford Police Department (OPD) received a report of the theft of a scooter that had occurred over the weekend, according to the media report.
On Oct. 7 at 7:15 p.m., OPD officers responded to a welfare check. Upon arrival, the individual in question was found deceased, according to the media report.
On Oct. 8 at 1:53 a.m., officers responded to a call regarding an unwanted individual. Officers arrested the individual for assault and menacing, according to the media report.
On Oct. 9 at 9:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shots-fired call on North Main Street, according to the media report. No one was seriously injured, and the suspects had fled the scene. Officers spoke to witnesses and later stopped a man in a truck suspected to be involved in the shooting. He was found to be in possession of a firearm, which was in the back seat, according to the media report.
On Oct. 10 at 11:20 p.m., a reckless driver was called in to the OPD, according to the media report. The caller followed the reckless driver until officers were able to locate the vehicle on South College Avenue, where the driver was found to be under the influence and arrested for operating a vehicle intoxicated, according to the media report.
On Oct. 11 at 7:56 a.m., an individual reported that he was “defrauded by an unknown suspect through various financial institutions,” according to the media report.
Later that day, at 4:16 p.m., an individual reported that her identity was stolen and the “suspect(s) attempted to open lines of credit in her name,” according to the media report.
On Oct. 12 at 8:41 p.m., officers were dispatched to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital to respond to a criminal damaging report, according to the media report, which also explained the situation in more detail. According to hospital staff, a discharged patient had purposely damaged hospital property in an ER room. A warrant is out for her arrest, according to the media report.
