Hanover Township man charged for alleged shooting
A man has been charged with felonious assault after allegedly shooting a gun at another person's car in Hanover Township. The victim alleged that the suspect used a racial slur before shooting.
A Hanover Township man is facing a second degree felony charge for allegedly shooting at another man on June 12.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the Butler County Area Courts, Max Tatman, 27, “attempted to cause serious physical harm by means of a deadly weapon” just after 11 p.m. June 12. Tatman is accused of “firing one gunshot from a handgun at [the victim] while he was inside his vehicle, striking the passenger side rear door of the vehicle with the bullet.” The shooting took place on Reily Millville Road.
The incident resulted in a charge for felonious assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony. The charge could result in prison time and a fine if Tatman is convicted.
According to an incident report, the victim pulled in front of a house to pick up a friend, and the suspect told the victim to “keep driving” and used a racial slur to refer to him. The victim told officers that Tatman then shot the right rear door of the victim’s SUV. The report stated that bias was not suspected or applicable for the charges.
Tatman faced criminal charges in six additional misdemeanor cases between 2018 and 2020 while living in Oxford, previous court filings show. Three of the incidents involved violating probation.
