Hometown Eatery, a homestyle diner, kept alive by a dedicated owner
Angie Hunter, owner of Hometown Eatery – a homestyle diner in College Corner, Indiana – brings the restaurant back to life.
When Angie Hunter began serving in the restaurant industry at 17 years old, she knew she enjoyed the work.
So when a part-time server position became available at Holly’s Homestyle – a classic, family-style diner in College Corner, Indiana – she said “yes” right away.
Now called Hometown Eatery, the restaurant sits just across the border between Ohio and Indiana.
Hunter started working there in 2014 until the restaurant closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, she purchased and reopened the diner in September 2022.
The restaurant is known for its specialty breakfast food, which it serves all day. Hunter said the warm, flakey biscuits smothered in gravy are a customer favorite. The restaurant also offers sandwiches, wraps, salads, deep-fried foods and homemade desserts.
“The food's good, our service is good and the staff is really friendly,” Hunter said. “The customers are pretty friendly too.”
Natosha Davis, manager at Hometown Eatery, started working there in September 2025. She runs the restaurant when Hunter isn’t there. She sees regulars daily, along with occasional Miami University students.
“I love the people that come in, like my regulars,” Davis said. “They’re a whole vibe first thing in the morning. They start my day off so great.”

Davis said the restaurant is a nice “hole-in-the-wall,” especially for people who get anxious around big groups of people.
“It’s a really good atmosphere,” Davis said. “It's small. It's not overwhelming.”
Hunter recently extended the hours to dinnertime Wednesday through Friday. She named Friday’s dinner “Italian Night,” during which she features a special in addition to the whole menu from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
She tries to find a dish that works for all customers and changes it every week. A few of her past specials included million-dollar spaghetti – a spaghetti casserole with layers of noodles, cheese and meat sauce – and chicken parmesan.
Now, Hunter dreams of expanding the restaurant. She said she’s trying hard to add outdoor seating this summer, and possibly serve hand-dipped ice cream.
“I really would like to grow this business,” Hunter said.
