Man gets multiple charges for abuse of harmful intoxicants; OPD fields theft reports
The Oxford Police Department issued multiple charges for abusing harmful intoxicants to a man found unconscious in a parking lot two days in a row last week.
The Oxford Police Department (OPD) cited the same man two days in a row for abuse of harmful intoxicants at Walmart between May 26 and June 2, in addition to finding a bag of suspected methamphetamine. OPD also responded to multiple reports of theft during the week.
On May 26, officers and EMS were dispatched to Walmart on College Corner Pike for an unconscious man just before 7 p.m., according to the OPD media report. The man was found inhaling Dust-Off and was taken to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. He was cited for abusing harmful intoxicants.
The next day, OPD responded to a report of the same male passed out in his vehicle in the Walmart parking lot before 6 p.m., according to an incident report. He was cleared by the Oxford Fire Department and charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated, operating a vehicle under the influence and abusing harmful intoxicants. He was then taken to the Butler County Jail.
OPD responded to a report on May 28 at 4:30 p.m. from a woman who said a “male’s penis touched her hand in his office.” Also on May 28, a little after 9:30 p.m., an unidentified person removed a window flag from a vehicle without permission.
On May 29, just after 12:30 p.m., a woman reported that she had left her wallet inside a local business and returned to find it missing. She then discovered that someone had attempted to make purchases with one of her credit cards inside the wallet.
While OPD was assisting the U.S. Marshal Service serve an arrest warrant on May 30, a little after 8:30 a.m., a baggie of suspected methamphetamine was found in the pocket of the arrested. The charges will be determined after the lab confirms the substance, according to the OPD media report.
During the week, OPD also responded to a non-criminal dispute between roommates, a theft that resulted in door knob damage and a fight between two individuals at the Hampton Inn Hotel.
