OPD responds to multiple cases involving firearms last week
The Oxford Police Department also received multiple theft reports throughout the week.

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) received multiple reports involving firearms between July 22 and July 28. OPD also responded to theft and domestic violence incidents.
On July 22, just before 11 a.m., OPD responded to a report of suspicious activity involving a firearm, according to the department’s media report. A suspect was identified and no criminal charges were filed, but an informational report was taken.
Also on July 22, just after 5:30 p.m., a man reported his firearm missing from his home, according to the OPD media report. The man said he had been gone a lot because of work and was unaware of anyone besides family being in his home. No suspect has been identified at this time.
On July 25, just after 2 p.m., a property owner reported the theft of an exterior A/C condensing unit, according to the department’s media report. The owner said the unit had been taken sometime in the last two weeks.
On July 26, just before 11 p.m., officers responded to a dispute on College Corner Pike, according to the OPD media report. A man and woman were found arguing upon arrival, and the man said the woman pointed a gun at him. The woman was arrested after further investigation.
On July 27, just after 7:30 p.m., a woman consented to a search of her belongings during a welfare check. Suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found in a bag, according to the department’s media report.
Also during the week, OPD recovered a stolen vehicle, transported a suicidal woman to McCullough-Hyde Hospital and one man relinquished a firearm per a court order.
