OPD responds to numerous reports of theft, alcohol-related incidents

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) responded to several theft incidents between March 30 and April 6.

On March 30, just before 5 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn for a theft report, according to the OPD media report. A man and woman checked out of their hotel room, and later received a call that their computer bag was left in the room. According to the incident report, the computer was missing from the bag when they returned.

On March 31, just before 5:30 p.m., a woman reported her prescription medication delivered to her porch was stolen, according to the OPD media report. This occurred in the 100 block of Charleston Drive.

On March 31, just before 9 p.m., officers were called to the 0 block of North Main Street for harassment because a male had threatened someone while holding a metal pipe, according to the OPD media report. The male was cited and released.

On March 31, just before 11:30 p.m., a male driver was arrested at the intersection of Tallawanda Road and East Church Street for driving under the influence, according to the OPD media report.

On April 1, just after 7:30 a.m., someone in the 200 block of South Main Street reported an unknown person threw a glass bottle through his kitchen window, according to the OPD media report.

On April 1, just after 9 a.m., management at Oxford West Apartments reported someone had damaged an air conditioning unit, according to the OPD media report. A maintenance worker said the damage appeared to be from an airsoft gun, and this was not the first time this had occurred at the complex, according to the incident report.

On April 2, just after 2 a.m., a male was reported stumbling in and out of the roadway in the 4000 block of College Corner Pike, according to the OPD media report. The male was located on the railroad tracks and was also found highly intoxicated and underage. He was arrested on alcohol related charges, according to the incident report. 

On April 3, just after midnight, a male was charged for underage drinking and possessing fictitious identification, according to the OPD media report.

On April 3, just after 1 p.m., a package was stolen from the front doorstep of a house in the 200 block of Raegan Place, according to the OPD media report. A report was filed and there are no suspects at this time.

On April 3, just after 3:30 p.m., a female retrieved her wallet from Walmart and discovered she was missing cash and a credit card, according to the OPD media report. The female dropped her wallet after going through self-checkout, and a customer is seen on video picking it up and bagging it with his items, according to the incident report. The wallet was found in the parking lot by another unknown customer and turned in to the front desk.

On April 3, just before 7 p.m., a male reported an unknown person gained access to his house through the front door and stole items from the living room, according to the OPD media report. This occurred in the 300 block of East Vine Street, and there are no suspects at this time.

On April 4, just after 7 p.m., officers responded to an assault in the 100 block of Tallawanda Road, according to the OPD media report. A male said he was attacked by a group of males, but each party gave conflicting statements to officers, according to the incident report.

On April 4, just before 7:30 p.m., a male reported his unattended bag containing books and a computer was stolen from the alley on North Beech Street, according to the OPD media report. There are currently no suspects.

On April 5, just before 1 a.m., officers responded to East High Street for an active fight, according to the OPD media report. The parties were separated upon arrival and it was determined that both parties were at fault.

Also during the week, OPD responded to a domestic dispute, conducted a warrants attempt and euthanized an animal.
