Oxford sees multiple break-ins, thefts and arrests

The Oxford Police Department responded to multiple break-ins and thefts and made multiple arrests last week.
Officers arrested a woman in the South Locust Street Speedway in the evening on April 30 after confirming that she had a warrant out for her arrest through the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
On the same day, a female student received an email from an unknown suspect pretending to be her boss. The suspect told the woman to buy gift cards and send the card numbers and access codes to them. She complied and was scammed out of a large sum of money.
Officers also responded to a trespassing and burglary incident on South Main Street April 30. According to the incident report, the victim said a person unknown to her entered her second-story bedroom window and stole cash from her bedside table drawer.
Officers responded to a report of theft from an unlocked vehicle on the 300 block of S. Poplar St. on May 2. The suspect is unknown at the time, but is said to have taken multiple items overnight. That same day, a woman reported that her purse had been stolen from a business at the 0 block of E. High Street.
On May 3, officers responded to a call regarding a vehicle break-in. Officers found a suspect who had stolen property from the break-in in his possession, as well as drugs. He was taken into custody on a parole violation warrant.
Earlier that day, a victim reported their phone, credit card and license were stolen from a bar. The phone was able to be tracked to a local apartment complex.
