Hanover sees electric aggregation rate increase
Hanover Township residents who are enrolled in the electric aggregation program will pay a new rate starting in June.
Hanover Township residents will see a higher electric aggregation rate starting in June.
Voters approved a measure during the November 2016 general election allowing Hanover Township to become an electric aggregator licensed through the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
Through the aggregation program, Hanover Township officials have now negotiated a bulk price on electricity for residents who purchase through Duke Energy.
The current rate paid by consumers who are enrolled in the Hanover Township aggregation program, set at 8.41 cents per kWh with Constellation Energy, will end after the May billing cycle. The new rate, fixed at 9.76 cents per kWh, will begin with the June billing cycle.
Residents of Hanover Township who purchase their electricity from Butler Rural Electric Cooperative will not be affected. All other residents are automatically enrolled in the aggregation program if found eligible, unless they opted out by April 10.
Anyone who opted out will pay Duke Energy’s rate, most recently set at 10.08 cents per kWh as of the April billing cycle.
