Oxford police located and detained a man wanted for questioning in a Jefferson County, Indiana murder on April 25.

Nigel Thomas, age 34, has been identified as a suspect in the murder of an Indiana woman who was found dead from stab wounds in her home April 14.

Police had initially arrested a man from Louisville, Kentucky for the murder but now allege that Thomas “engaged in an elaborate plan to frame” the former suspect, according to reporting by WDRB.

In a press release posted to Facebook, Jefferson County Prosecutor David Sutter alleged that Thomas, who also goes by Nati Bang, had fabricated evidence to incriminate a Louisville man after murdering Wilma Robertson, 35, of Hanover, Indiana. Thomas created fake social media accounts under the Louisville man’s name and sent messages purporting to admit to the murder, the press release states.

According to the OPD incident report, the department was contacted by an agent Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation who said Thomas had been located in Oxford. Thomas was questioned by Jefferson County detectives in the OPD building after being located in McDonalds. He was then transported to the Butler County Jail, where he still was as of 10:30 a.m. April 29. The incident report listed Thomas’ address as within the outskirts of Cincinnati.

Jefferson County Prosecutor David Sutter confirmed in an email to the Oxford Free Press that Thomas has been charged with murder. Thomas had been homeless and was most recently residing in Oxford, Sutter wrote. He anticipates that Thomas will appear before a local court in Butler County on April 30 regarding extradition to Indiana.
