Miami field hockey opens 2024 MAC schedule
Miami University's field hockey team is 1-1 in Mid American Conference play so far this season.
Miami University’s field hockey team returned home after a stretch of four straight road games, taking on James Madison (3-1) on Friday, Sept. 21. The game was also the Redhawks first Mid American Conference matchup.
The match remained scoreless through the first three quarters. James Madison broke the scoreless tie with a goal early in the fourth period. The Dukes added a second score at the midway point to take a 2-0 lead.
The Redhawks got on the scoreboard with just over four minutes to play as Paula Martinex scored on a penalty corner. Miami, however, was not able to score in the final minutes as the Dukes held on for a 2-1 win.
On Sunday, Miami bounced back with a win as the Redhawks traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to take on Bellarmine University. Miami scored four times in the second half of the match, to take a 6-1 win.
The split puts the Redhawks at 4-4 on the season, 1-1 in MAC play. The team is scheduled to play at Ball State on Friday, Sept. 27.
