C. Nicholas Schwab, beloved father and grandfather, died Oct. 1, 2026.

Nick was born on Oct. 18, 1942, in Cincinnati to the late Clifford and Cris Schwab. Nick grew up in Colerain Township where his father owned and operated the Airy Meat Market. After graduating from Roger Bacon High School, he went on to study at The Ohio State University, earning a bachelor of science in agriculture, followed by post-graduate classes at Miami University.

Nick met his beloved wife, Carol, at OSU and they married in June 1965. Nick and Carol settled in Reily Township over 50 years ago, raising their four sons in Reily. Nick ran the family farm, raising beef cattle and hogs and growing crops. Nick and Carol were married for 51 years when Carol passed away in 2016. As parents, Nick and Carol were involved in Butler County 4-H and the Butler County Junior Fair. In 2008, they received the Ed Zorn Memorial Family Extension Award for their involvement in 4-H.

Nick believed in giving back to his community and working to make it a better place. Nick was honored to serve Reily Township as a trustee for the past 43 years until his death. Nick was also active in the Ohio Township Association and served that organization in many different roles. Nick was a graduate of the Ohio Township Association Leadership Academy.

Nick served as a volunteer national registered EMT with the Reily Fire Department for 38 years and a lieutenant for the Reily Township Volunteer Life Squad for the past 27 years. He was also an EMS continuing education instructor for the state of Ohio and a member of the Society of Fire Service Instructors. Nick retired from the life squad in December 2025.

Nick was also a member of the Butler County Trustee and Fiscal Officer Association and had been elected vice president, president, and executive committeeman. He also served as a past president of the Butler County Farm Bureau and of the extension support committee, as well as a past member of the Butler County Emergency Management Association Executive Committee. Nick received the Butler County Farm Bureau Golden Tractor Award for increasing membership in the farm bureau.

Nick was named Cooperator of the Year by the Butler County Soil and Water Conservation District and Friend of Agriculture by Butler County Farm Bureau. He was granted honorary membership in the Reily High School Alumni Association.

Nick was one of four township officials elected statewide to the Ohio Township Association Risk Management Authority (OTARMA) Board. In 2025, he was elected to a fifth term. Throughout his tenure, Nick has served as chair, vice-chair and secretary of the OTARMA Board.

Nick was extremely proud of his family and will be deeply missed by his four sons: Dan (Kaylene), Tim (Karen), Greg (Rebecca) and Eric (Tanya); twelve grandchildren: Jordan (Andy), Heather, Zachary, Alexander, Amanda (Joe), Jacob (Megan), Ryan (Hunter), Joshua, Caroline, Abigail, Ethan and Morgan; nine great-grandchildren: Casey, Alayna (Carter), Colt, Kaleesi, Ireland, Chance, Evelynn, Eric and Raelynn; great-great granddaughter Summer; siblings Mark (Ellen), Marian, and Dave; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Dennis and Carla Conrad, Steve Schulte and Lucille Honnert; and many, many other friends.

Nick was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carol; his parents Cliff and Cris Schwab; his sister, Dianne Bronnert; and many close friends.
