Obituary: Darin "D.J." J. Jewell

Darin J. Jewell “DJ,” age 61, died in his Oxford home on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025.

The only son of Paul “Pete” Leo Jewell and Barbara Jean (Spivey) Jewell, Darin was born on Oct. 7, 1964.

A resident of Seven Mile, Ohio, Darin was a 1983 graduate of Edgewood High School.

As a young man, Darin helped in the Jewell family business, The Workingman’s Store in Hamilton, Ohio, owned by his father and his paternal grandparents, Paul M. and Myrtle Jewell.

Later in life, Darin faithfully worked for LaRosa’s Pizza in Fairfield and Hamilton for many decades before health issues ended his employment.

Darin was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed several trips to the Reds Spring Training Camp in Florida with lifelong friends. 

Some of Darin’s fondest memories were playing golf with his father and playing pool with his cousins in the basement of his Seven Mile home. He also enjoyed participating in football, baseball and bowling teams with friends and cousins.

Darin is remembered with great love and affection by his many cousins.

A private graveside service will be conducted in the near future. Interment will be in the Oxford Cemetery where he will be laid to rest near his parents in the Jewell Family Plot.
