Darrell L. Short, age 80, passed away peacefully at home in Bath, Indiana, on the early morning of May 25, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1946, to the late Edward and Evelyn (Orr) Short, Darrell was a loving husband for 45 years and a devoted foster parent for 15 years, opening his heart and home to many.

His greatest joy came from spending time with family and nurturing relationships, whether on the golf course, cheering for the Cleveland Browns, enjoying Miami ice hockey, or sharing laughter during bowling leagues. A talented craftsman, he found fulfillment in woodworking. Known for his spirited nature, Darrell was filled with wit and charm, but most importantly, he was a dedicated family man who deeply cared for his loved ones.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Connie (Wahl) Short; children, Robert (Angela) French, Christine (Greg) Barber, Douglas Short, Madio Short and Joe Short; grandchildren Andrew Short, Kelsey (Zach) Wolfe, Emily (Kyle) O'Connell and Kaylee (Hunter) Marshall; seven great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dale (Eleanore) Short. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.
