Jake Wayne Cole Dankert, age 29, went to be with the Lord on March 2, 2026, in Oxford, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born to Natasha Ann Smallwood (Jackson) and Paul Wayne Dankert on Aug. 22, 1996, Jake was a devoted husband, father, son and friend.

Graduating from Talawanda High School in 2014, Jake continued his education at Miami University, ultimately becoming an accomplished engineer with SCS Engineering. He also found joy in his work at Sanitary Septic, where his character shone brightly. Those who knew Jake recognized his intelligence and determination, but what truly defined him were his passions: writing poetry, practicing judo and weightlifting.

Above all, Jake relished the moments spent watching his beloved wife play the piano at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish. Jake’s most precious role was that of a father to his son, Sammy. He took great joy in being “Dada,” tucking Sammy into bed every night, creating a world of comfort and security for him. His faith and family were the cornerstone of his existence, and he lived each day with a deep appreciation for those he loved.

Jake is survived by his devoted wife of three years, Christa Baumgartner, who loved him deeply; beloved son, Samson Joseph Dankert; cherished mother and devoted step-father, Natasha and Michael Smallwood and his father, Paul Wayne Dankert. He is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Kandyce (Taylor) Nicklin, Erik Dankert, Elizabeth Smallwood, Bella Dankert and Lila Dankert; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eric and Marie Baumgartner; niece, Brooklyn; and numerous other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
