Obituary: Janet Marie Teets

Janet Marie Teets, age 79 of Okeana, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on April 23, 2025. She was born in Salem, Ohio on Jan. 31, 1946 the daughter of James and Bertha (Hall) Cooper. She attended Olney Friends Boarding School and later graduated with a Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati. She went on to work at Miami University as a Nursing Professor.

On June 29, 1968 she married Ed Teets, and together they had three children. Janet volunteered at Hospice of Cincinnati for over 15 years and at Sojourner for many years. She was also a member of the Butler County Board of Health and member of Three Valley Conservation Trust in Oxford. Janet is survived by her loving husband, Ed; her three children Raymond (Carrie Brownstein) Teets, Amy Teets and Daniel (Jesse Boyd) Teets; grandchildren Isaiah and Shiloh Teets; step-grandchildren Waylon Boyd and Hayden Crawford; one brother Oliver (Gretchen) Cooper and one sister Lucile (Klaus) Bauer; and many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Anna Mae Sutterley.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 5 at Shandon Congregational Church, 4782 Cincinnati Brookfield Road, Hamilton, OH 45013. Service to begin at 11 with lunch to follow.
