Obituary: John E. Johnston
John E. Johnston, age 91, of College Corner, Ohio passed away surrounded by family at Woodland Country Manor on Monday June 8, 2026.
He was a 1953 graduate of Union School. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (08/08/53) and shortly after left for the service in the Army.
John worked at Miami for 35 years and, after retiring, started his own business, Johnston Extinguishers. John drove a bus for Lakefront for many Miami University sporting events and many other exciting customers.
He served on the College Corner Volunteer Fire Department and was chief for several years.
His hobbies included running, horses and collecting fire patch kits and Johnston Concessions.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, and his parents, Ruby and Clyde.
He is survived by his daughter, Tana (Scott) Blair, son, Kevin (Kim) Johnston, sister, Elizabeth (Tony) Wong, brother, David (Bill) Johnston, Jane (John) Kinzinger, his grandchildren, Sean (Sandy) Leventen, Christopher (Amanda) Johnston, Katherine (Brock) O’Neil and Taylor (Josh) Turner, as well as eight great grandchildren.
Visitation for John will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 9 a.m. at the West College Corner Volunteer Fire Department in College Corner, Indiana until the time of the service at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Paul Ayers. Burial will follow at the College Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the West College Corner Volunteer Fire Department.
