Joe had a remarkable gift for storytelling. His stories were thoughtful, insightful, often delivered with a touch of humor or occasional slight exaggeration. They carried wisdom drawn from a life well lived and always seemed to offer exactly what someone needed to hear.
Joseph Anthony Pedoto was born on March 29, 1942, and passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2026.
Joe and Barb created a wonderful life together in Oxford, Ohio, where they enjoyed the peace of the countryside and lovingly cared for the horses and cats that brought them so much joy.
A proud graduate of Elder High School, Joe went on to play offensive line at Xavier University, where he distinguished himself through grit, discipline, and heart. Those same qualities guided him throughout a successful career and many years as a business owner. Although he never sought recognition, he quietly helped countless people, generously offering his time, talents and encouragement without expecting anything in return.
To his sons, Joe was much more than a father. He was a teacher, a mentor, a problem solver and a constant source of support. He spent countless hours at their homes fixing whatever needed repair, turning every project into an opportunity to teach, encourage and spend time together. The lessons he shared extended far beyond home repairs – they were about integrity, hard work, perseverance and caring for others.

Throughout his sons' childhoods, their friends were always treated like family, and his home was a place where everyone felt accepted, valued and cared for.
Joe's legacy is not measured by awards or accomplishments, but by the lives he touched through his humility, kindness, generosity and unconditional love. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his example and countless others whose lives are better because they knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barb, his loving partner for more than 25 years; his sons Mike (Sherri), Chris (Amy) and Tony (Jessica) who share the loss of a father whose quiet generosity, steady wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family defined the man so many knew and loved; his 14 grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Aaron, Ryann, Emily, Christian, Josie, Francie, Lucy, Gianna, Genevieve, Elliot, Niko and Elsa; his great-grandson, Lucas; and Barb's children, Jeff (Heather), Laura (Tristan) and Jim, who were an important part of the life they built together.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. Arrangements are in the care of Paul R. Young Funeral Home, Oxford, Ohio.
