The Oxford Police Department (OPD) responded to several reports of theft and alcohol violations between Feb. 16 and 23.

On Feb. 16, just after 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a house in the 6000 block of Hester Road for a theft report, according to the OPD media report. The residents said mail had been stolen a few days prior, according to the incident report.

On Feb. 17, just after 5 p.m., a local business reported that a group of unknown males broke the men’s bathroom toilet, according to the OPD media report.

On Feb. 18, just before 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a shoplifting incident at Walmart, according to the OPD media report. The suspect was actively cooperating with employees when police arrived, according to the incident report.

Also on Feb. 18, just before 12:30 p.m., a theft report was made about stolen cash from a wallet in the Miami University Police Department’s (MUPD) lost and found, according to the OPD media report. The wallet was misplaced for several days after being checked in, according to the incident report, and was missing $100 when found. The stolen cash was added back to the wallet before it was returned.

It is currently unknown if the correct amount of money was counted in the wallet or if the $100 was taken while in MUPD’s possession. The incident is still under investigation, according to the incident report.

On Feb. 20, just before 5:30 p.m., a resident in the 90 block of Michelle Drive reported their mail was tampered with and a check was stolen, according to the OPD media report. There are currently no known suspects.

On Feb. 21, just before 7:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of McGuffey Avenue and Fairfield Road, and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol, according to the OPD media report. The driver was arrested.

On Feb. 22, just before 3 a.m., officers observed suspicious driving in Lot 52, near 21 N. Main St., according to the OPD media report. When officers made contact with the vehicle, the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

Also on Feb. 22, just after 6:30 p.m., a male reported that he met someone online who created “fictitious nude images,” according to the OPD media report. The male said the person threatened to distribute the photos and requested money. The suspect is currently unknown, according to the incident report.

Also during the week, OPD responded to various alcohol-related incidents, most of which involved underage individuals.
