The Oxford Free Press is pleased to share that Aidan Cornue will serve as the publication’s next editor!

A native of Chicago, Cornue graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from West Virginia University, where he held multiple positions at The Daily Athenaeum, including Editor-in-Chief. He has covered a diverse range of topics through both writing and photography with various publications, including The Evanston Roundtable in Evanston, Illinois, and YSNT (You’re Not Seeing Things) Magazine in West Virginia.

Founding editor Sean Scott’s final edition with the Free Press will be published June 27. The publication will then take a two-week break from publishing in print as reporter Kethan Babu and copy editor Taylor Powers continue to publish some content online. Cornue’s first day is set for July 16, and the Free Press will return to print on Friday, July 18.

“We are thrilled that Aidan has agreed to become our Editor," said Free Press Board President James Rubenstein. "We conducted a national search, and he was clearly our top choice."

“At age 21, he's already done reporting at the local, state and national levels,” said Richard Campbell, board secretary for the Free Press. “We hope that when he arrives in mid-July our community will support him the way they supported Sean and the paper. To me, it seems like a little miracle that we've actually published a weekly nonprofit newspaper for a whole year."
