Oxford Township Board of Trustees discusses police, electric update in September meeting

The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 8 at Township Hall. Trustees reviewed and approved regular monthly financial reports as presented by Fiscal Officer Roger VanFrank.

Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported that he will make a final round of mowing late this month to ensure that roadsides are cleaned up for the winter and complete his annual round of culvert inspections. He expects to have the new bench installed in the cemetery in the next two weeks.

Oxford Township Police Chief Patrick Piccioni reported that in the month ending Sept. 8, the department received 242 calls for service, made 127 traffic stops resulting in three citations, took 12 reports, made four arrests and responded to 16 calls for assistance to other area agencies.

A quarterly report from the township’s electric aggregation consultant was reviewed. During the first 12 months of the program, township residents, who are served by Duke Energy Ohio and participate in the aggregation program, have saved an average of $170.25 as compared to non-participants. During the same period, township residents who are served by AES Ohio and who participated saved an average of $339.05.

The next meeting of the Oxford Township Board of Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13 at Township Hall, or can be attended virtually.
