Oxford Township discusses ARPA subcontract, data center commission, more in February meeting

The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Feb. 9.

Fiscal Officer Roger Van Frank presented financial reports for the previous month, updated the trustees on the year-end reconciliation progress and gave an update on the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) subcontract from the Butler County Commissioners.

Additionally, Van Frank is working on a fraud protection plan with First Financial Bank.

Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported a busy month of January for road cleanup, due to snow and ice. Smith is ordering more salt and repairing trucks.

Oxford Township Chief of Police Patrick Piccioni reported that in the past month, there were 441 calls for service, 11 of which were accident-related. Officers made 64 traffic stops, issued seven citations and responded to eight calls for assistance from neighboring police departments. Officers also made 276 business/vacation/traffic checks.

Trustee Gary Salmon reported on some recently introduced legislation in the state house about zoning, public participation and the creation of a data center commission.
