Theft and financial fraud continue to line police reports in Oxford

The Oxford Police Department handled a variety of cases this week, largely consisting of fraud, theft and intoxication.

On Nov. 11 at 5:25 p.m., Oxford Police Department (OPD) officers responded to McCullough-Hyde Hospital for a report of an assault involving a patient and nurse, according to the media report. No charges were filed. 

On Nov. 12 at 10:52 a.m, a fraudulent check was deposited at an unknown bank by an individual and the money was withdrawn from a victim’s account, according to the media report. Both the victim and the victim’s bank requested a police report in order for the money to be credited back.

At 5:21 p.m., officers responded to a complaint in an apartment building.

On Nov. 13 at 9 a.m., a juvenile was found in possession of stolen property, according to the media report.

At 10:17 a.m., an officer met with a resident who stated that his window pane was broken sometime during the overnight hours, according to the media report.

At 3:27 p.m., a male came into the OPD lobby to report he had been scammed out of $400, according to the media report.

At 4:42 p.m., officers responded to Miami Savings Bank for an identity fraud incident, according to the media report. An employee stated there was a male on scene who displayed a fake ID with an account holder’s information on it and attempted to deposit money into that account. The subject was arrested for identity fraud, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a fake ID and obstructing official business. 

On Nov. 14 at 11:35 a.m., an officer met with a resident who shared a video of two suspects coming into his house and causing damage, according to the media report.

At 11:52 a.m., an individual reported that her vehicle was rummaged through during the overnight hours, according to the media report. 

At 12:47 p.m., an individual reported money was stolen from her vehicle during the night, according to the media report.

At 9:28 p.m., an individual was reported attempting to enter a residence. Upon arrival of officers, the individual was declared intoxicated and could not care for himself, according to the media report. 

On Nov. 15 at 5:05 p.m., an individual was assaulted on High Street, according to the media report. The suspect has not been identified at this time. 

At 10:34 p.m., officers and EMS were dispatched for a female who was heavily intoxicated, according to the media report. Once on scene, the female was found to be underage and in possession of a fake ID. She was taken to the hospital. 

On Nov. 16 at 12:42 a.m., officers conducted a welfare check and located an intoxicated male, according to the media report. He was transported to the hospital and cited. 

At 5:01 p.m., a female reported a theft on College Corner Pike, according to the media report. There are no suspects at this time. 

At 11:51 p.m., during a traffic stop, an opened alcoholic beverage was observed in the vehicle and the driver was cited.
