Sally Henson has spent nearly two decades feeding Oxford – first with baked goods at the Oxford Farmers Market, and now from the window of her food truck, The Loaded Goat Cafe.

The business started as a caterer for baked goods for restaurants in the area and as a vendor at the market.

From early on in the business’s operation, its breakfast sandwiches stood out on the menu.

In 2022, Henson converted her business to a food truck and began focusing the menu more on sandwiches.

“We kind of dropped most of the baking,” Henson said. “It was a really hard shuffle there for a long time.”

Henson said the move to the food truck required more hours and more work, but provided more space and efficiency.

A consistent part of the menu – the loaded goat breakfast sandwich – is where the business found its name.

Henson also sells some bakery items and more breakfast foods from the food truck, including various types of bowls made of hashbrowns and eggs, among other tasty ingredients. She also sells specials, which include pancakes and donuts.

Burgers are also a menu item, all of which use locally-sourced meats.

“It’s kind of hard to find a niche when you’re starting a food truck,” Henson said of the diverse menu.

Henson said the response from the public has been great, and her 17 years of participation at the market have been a valuable part of each week for her.

“It’s just a great community,” Henson said of Oxford. “It’s our friends, our ingredients (and) it’s our community.”

Most Saturdays, the food truck can be found at the Oxford Farmers Market and other Uptown events.
