Twelve windows at the nearly 200-year-old Indian Creek Pioneer Church in Reily Township will be refurbished, after the project received funding from different community organizations.

Holly Wissing, a member of the Indian Creek Church and Burial Ground Restoration Committee, said she was blown away by the support the project received from the community.“I think it shows that people do care about history and they do care about this church,” Wissing said in an email to the Oxford Free Press.

Wissing wrote that “the goal was to be historically accurate, including adding shutters, which had been eliminated in the initial renovation.”

With this support, $42,000 was raised, including $950 from the Butler Rural Electric Cooperative, $1,000 from the Reily Township Historical Society, $10,000 from the Friends of MetroParks of Butler County, $17,000 from community groups and the remainder from private donations.

Wissing said she was grateful for the support the project received from the Greater Oxford Community Foundation, which contributed $5,000.

Roger Koch, also a member of the committee, said the support for the project has been “terrific.”

Koch said the project is underway and is expected to be completed in November.
