Republican candidate Michael Ryan was elected as a Butler County Commissioner on Nov. 3 with 57.25% of the vote, according to the Butler County Board of Elections, as of press time on Nov. 4.
Ryan will join Donald L. Dixon and T.C. Rogers on the Board of Commissioners. He will fill the seat vacated by incumbent Commissioner Cindy Carpenter, who was first elected in 2010.
Ryan will begin his term on Jan. 1, 2027.
Ryan said he is thankful to the voters for the opportunity to serve Butler County. He said he's looking forward to his new role and is ready to work hard for residents.
“I am deeply privileged to be given this opportunity, and deeply privileged that they have entrusted me to be their representative in the commissioner's office,” Ryan said.
Of his Democratic opponent Mike Miller, Ryan said, “I wish him the best of luck in his next endeavor and appreciate the very hard campaign that he put forth.”
Miller congratulated Ryan on winning the election.
“We will continue to monitor happenings on the Butler County Commission, and we'll keep our options open for any future campaigns,” Miller said. “If we feel like me running again would be a benefit to the county, then we'll definitely consider it.”
This is the first time a commission seat will be filled by a new member in 15 years.
