Obituary: Amanda Celesta Whinery

Amanda Celesta Whinery, age 70, of Oxford, OH passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026 at the Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton, Ohio. She was born Feb. 8, 1956 in Salem, Ohio to the late Eldon and Marjorie (Fultz) Whinery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters JoAnn Whinery and Linda Taylor; and brother Ray (Josephine) Whinery.

She is survived by her wife of 37 years, Kristen L. Jacobson of Oxford; son John Whinery of Oxford; sister Cheryl (Van) Barber of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother Carl (Marsha) Whinery of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

A wake will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Smile, 3641 Faculty Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
