Eric Brad Browning, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2026. He was born on Sept. 2, 1976, in Oxford, Ohio. Eric was the son of Herlon Wayne Browning and Carol Sue Norris.

Eric earned an associate degree in computer systems from the computer learning center in Alexandria, Virginia. He later worked as a carpenter, taking pride in his craftsmanship, problem-solving skills and strong work ethic.

Eric enjoyed spending time outdoors and could often be found fishing or boating. He also enjoyed thrift shopping and collecting things that caught his interest. Friends and family often joked that Eric could find value in just about anything and was never quick to throw something away if he thought it might still be useful.

Eric was hardworking and tireless, rarely sitting still for long. Whether it was something he found, collected, or rescued from being thrown away, Eric saw possibilities where others saw little value. He was rarely afraid to take something apart to understand it, repair it, or give it a new purpose.

Eric was a proud and fun father, and his children were important to him throughout his life. He loved his sons, Cullen and Keelan, and cherished the time he spent with them. Fun and witty, Eric had a natural ability to connect with children. His youthful spirit, playful nature, sense of adventure and ability to see the world through a child’s eyes gave him a touch of Peter Pan’s Neverland that made him a favorite among many of the young people in his life.

Though Eric lived life on his own terms, those who knew him best understood that he was always willing to help anyone who needed him. Whether it was lending a hand, sharing his knowledge or simply being there when someone called, Eric could be counted on by family and friends when it mattered most.

Eric loved his family and friends deeply, each in his own unique way. He built many friendships throughout his life and touched the lives of those around him.

Eric is survived by his son, Cullen Browning of Richmond, Indiana; his mother, Carol Sue Norris of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; his brother, Wayne Browning of Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Carolyn Hamm of Fountain City, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herlon Wayne Browning; his stepfather, Patrick Norris; his son, Keelan Browning; and his sister, Crystal Ricketts.

Eric will be remembered for his independent spirit, generous heart, unique personality and youthful sense of adventure, as well as the many memories he created with family and friends throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched.

The family will host a Celebration of His Life, Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Glen Miller Park, Shelter 4, Richmond, Indiana, from 1-4 p.m. Community Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with final arrangements.
