Obituary: Gary Lynn Burk
Gary had a love for sports; he played basketball in high school and coached youth baseball and basketball for several years. He also enjoyed watching and attending both Cincinnati Reds and Bengals games.
Gary Lynn Burk, 71, peacefully passed on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to the late Arlen (Dub) Burk and Pat Yenser (Lopshire) on Oct. 17, 1954, in Paulding, Ohio.
Gary spent his early years in the restaurant business where he met his wife Pam. They married on Feb. 14, 1975 in New Haven, Indiana. Gary’s work required six moves in the first nine years of their marriage. In 1984, they moved to Oxford and settled in.
Gary managed Pedro’s Mexican Restaurant for many years. When Pedro’s closed, Gary worked in construction for a couple of years before becoming a school bus driver for Talawanda School District. Gary’s health required him to retire in the fall of 2025 after 13 years of driving.
Gary and Pam enjoyed raising and showing horses. They had a lot of fun traveling to different horse shows almost every weekend each summer. Camping was also a venture enjoyed. Gary’s favorite activity was going to the horse races with his friend, Don Willen. Gary had a love for sports; he played basketball in high school and coached youth baseball and basketball for several years. He also enjoyed watching and attending both Cincinnati Reds and Bengals games. Gary enjoyed spending time with his grand kids, riding the quad, taking them on golf cart rides, taking them fishing and attending as many sporting events as he could to cheer them on.
Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pam Burk (Pemberton); children Jennifer (Brian) Fox, Kati (Dr. James) Swinney and Joshua Burk; cherished grandchildren Justin (Jenna), Nolan (Fiance Jaelynn), Zack (Fiance Addi), Parker, Colin, Zoey, Lilly and Evey; great- grandchildren Cade and Cash Boyle; siblings Terry (Le) Burk and Cindy (Ed) Amstutz; his sister-in-law, Chris (Leon) Steury, his Uncle Keith Burk and several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Arlen (Dub) Burk; Step-mother, Joann Burk; mother, Pat Yenser; and his sister, Kathy Banks; and his nephew, Trent Amstutz.
Gary's visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 11am - 12pm ,until the time of the Funeral Service at 1pm at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio.
