John C. Hild, age 79, passed away peacefully on the evening of Feb.  17, 2026, at Hospice of Hamilton, surrounded by care and comfort.

Born on March 17, 1946, in Dayton, John was the beloved son of the late John Ray and Ruth Naomi (Johnson) Hild.

From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and creativity. He cherished learning the art of wood inlay from his grandfather, a skill that reflected both patience and love of wood. An avid woodworker, John found joy in creating with his hands and sharing his talents with others. Music was another constant companion in John’s life. He loved listening to his favorite songs and playing the banjo or guitar at home and with family and friends.

John was a proud graduate of Tecumseh High School (1964) and continued his education at Miami University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree (1969). He carried the values of hard work, dedication and humility throughout the years.

Above all, John was a devoted husband and family man. He shared 49 loving years of marriage with his wife, Kathleen (Nelson) Hild, whose partnership and companionship were the foundation of his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Jerry Hild, Sandra Hild and Dave Hild; and by his niece, Meg (Vincent) Kong.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ron Hild. John will be remembered for his steady presence, his creative spirit and the quiet kindness he showed to those around him. His memory will live on in the music he played, the pieces he crafted, and the love he shared with his family.
