Obituary: Lonnie J. Marcum

Lonnie J. Marcum, age 83, of Holton, Indiana, passed away on the afternoon of Sept. 8, 2026, at Margaret Mary Health Hospital in Batesville, Indiana. 

She was born to the late Alonzo and Roxie (Bolton) Whitt on June 26, 1943 in London, Kentucky.

Lonnie dedicated numerous years of her life as a compassionate caregiver for the State of Indiana. In her free time, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life – drinking her coffee, watching her favorite TV shows and talking on the phone with dear friends. Above all, she cherished the time spent shopping with and spoiling her beloved grandchildren.

Lonnie's memory will be forever cherished by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Thurman Glen Marcum Sr.; her children, Sharon J. Grubb, Deborah F. Wells and Thurman Glen (Bonnie) Marcum Jr.; her grandchildren, Tonya Isaac, Scott Christian, Ashley Sorrell, Brittany Marcum, Kendra Marcum, Jeffrey Marcum, Brianna Marcum and Josie Smith; her great-grandchildren, Mckayla, Bailey, Jacob, Link, Amara and Walker; and her great-great-grandchildren, Delilah, Azlynn and Syrus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her children William K. Marcum and Jackie G. Jones; and her siblings, Earl Whitt, Kenneth Whitt and Joanna Heald.

Services were held at Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio 45056 on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026. She was laid to rest at Oxford Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.paulyoungfuneralhome.com
