Mary (Gentry) Rhodus, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home in Bath, Indiana, on Aug. 18, 2026. 

She was born in Oxford, Ohio, daughter of Bill and Ida (Jones) Gentry. 

She grew up and attended school in College Corner. Mary married the love of her life, Enos Rhodus, Jr., in July 1957. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary before Jr. passed in June 2016. Mary retired from Miami University, where she was a cook and housekeeper.

Mary was an amazing cook and loved when she hosted family dinners with her children gathered around her. She had a green thumb and could grow almost any kind of plant. Her crocheting skills were remarkable, creating afghans and various crafts. Mary adored animals, especially her beloved beagle, Jack. She was known to feed any stray animals which ventured into her yard. Her grandchildren recall wonderful memories playing Nintendo with her. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

She is survived by sons, Rick (Karen), Randy and Steve, and one daughter, Debbie; five grandchildren, David Rhodus, Christy (Tim) Miracle, Heather (Jax) Knollman, Ryan and Erin Bell; and one sister, Peggy (Rob) Beckett. 

She was preceded in death by son, Jimmy; grandson, Chris; son-in-law, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Darla, and brothers, Bob, Billy, Hugh and Buster, and sister, Pat.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 11:00am at the College Corner Cemetery in Indiana.  Online condolences may be shared with the family on the Tribute Wall at www.paulyoungfuneralhome.com
