Susan was known for her infectious laugh, playful spirit, and generous heart. She had a gift for bringing joy to others—through acts of kindness, words of encouragement, or a well-timed prank that left everyone smiling.
Susan DeWitt Pyne, of Aurora, Illinois, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 16, 2026. Born on July 8, 1962, Susan lived a life defined by extraordinary kindness, selflessness, and an unwavering devotion to the people she loved.
Nothing brought Susan greater joy than caring for her family. She poured her heart into raising her three children, Ben, Katie, and Jon, and took immense pride in the compassionate, thoughtful adults they became. Becoming “Mema” was one of the greatest blessings of her life. Her grandchildren, Judah and Declan, were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Whether through a warm hug, a thoughtful surprise, or simply being present, Susan had a remarkable way of making those she loved feel cherished and supported.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin Pyne of Painesville, Ohio; her children, Ben Pyne and his wife, Jeanette; Katie Faucher and her husband, Ryan; and Jon Pyne and his fiancée, Carly Phillips; her beloved grandchildren, Judah and Declan; and her brothers and David DeWitt of Oxford, Ohio
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jon DeWitt of Hamilton, Ohio.
Susan will be deeply missed, but her laughter, her generosity, and most of all, her boundless love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her life was a beautiful example of putting others first, loving deeply, and finding joy in the people who mattered most.
A private celebration of Susan’s life will be held for close friends and family.
