OPD responds to several alcohol related incidents, theft reports over two weeks

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) responded to numerous different incidents, including alcohol-related offenses and theft reports, over two weeks between Aug. 31 and Sept. 14.

On Aug. 31, just before 11:30 a.m., officers spoke with a female about a fraud report, according to the OPD media report. She received a call from someone claiming to be from a giveaway company, who said they would award her prize money if she paid fees, according to the incident report.

On Aug. 31, just before 4:30 p.m., a male turned in a backpack he found that contained multiple different individuals’ IDs, according to the OPD media report. An officer contacted an individual listed on one of the IDs, who said her wallet was stolen a few months ago, according to the incident report.

On Aug. 31, just before 6:30 p.m., a resident reported that a check sent in the mail was possibly stolen, according to the OPD media report. The check had also been altered and cashed in a different name than it was originally made out to.

On Sept. 1, just after noon, a male reported multiple holes were shot into the side of a property in the 300 block of East Vine Street with a pellet gun, according to the OPD media report.

From Sept. 4-6, 15 separate individuals were charged with alcohol-related offenses, including underage consumption of alcohol and open container violations, according to the OPD media report. Two of these individuals also had fictitious identification, and one was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.

On Sept. 4, just before 11:30 p.m., a juvenile male was charged for underage consumption of alcohol and for having an open liquor container in a motor vehicle, according to the OPD media report.

On Sept. 5, just after 2 p.m., a female reported that when she attempted to get gas at Shell, her bank account was emptied and she received no gas, according to the OPD media report. The station could not determine where the withdrawn money went, according to the incident report. 

On Sept. 5, just after 9 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 0 block of Jeffrey Drive for a canine at large, according to the OPD media report. Officers made contact with all parties involved and came to a resolution.

On Sept. 6, just before 12:30 a.m., two males reported they were assaulted by two other males in an alley near Brick Street Bar, according to the OPD media report. OPD retrieved footage of the fight from Brick Street and is conducting a follow-up investigation, according to the incident report.

On Sept. 7, just after 12:30 p.m., officers met with an individual in the 600 block of South College Avenue for a vandalism report, according to the OPD media report. A suspect was identified.

On Sept. 7, just before 9:30 p.m., a resident at Parkview Arms Apartments reported that an object was thrown through their living room window sometime overnight, according to the OPD media report.

On Sept. 8, just before 2 a.m., a suspicious vehicle was observed in the parking lot of Parkview Arms Apartments and was later determined to be stolen, according to the OPD media report. A male was arrested.

On Sept. 8, just after 1 p.m., Walmart reported a shoplifting incident, according to the OPD media report. A warrant will be issued for the identified suspect’s arrest.

On Sept. 10, just after 12:30 p.m., a male vandalized a tabletop at OxVegas Chicken by carving a racial slur in it, according to the OPD media report.

From Sept. 11-13, six separate individuals were charged with alcohol-related offenses, including underage consumption of alcohol and open container violations, according to the OPD media report. Two individuals also had fictitious identification, and one was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.

On Sept. 11, just after 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Arrowhead Drive for a vandalism report, according to the OPD media report. A suspect was identified.

Over these two weeks, there were four reported stolen packages and four stolen electric bicycles or scooters, according to the OPD media reports.

Also during this time, OPD responded to various other incidents, including online extortion, disputes and a suspected overdose, and arrested several individuals with warrants.
