OPD responds to theft, male arrested for driving under the influence

The Oxford Police Department (OPD) arrested a male for driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident between Aug. 3 and 10.

On Aug. 4, just after 3 a.m., a vehicle reported stolen from a neighboring agency was discovered by officers on patrol, according to the OPD media report. The vehicle was towed, as requested by the agency.

On Aug. 4, just after 3 a.m., a heavily intoxicated male was found lying unconscious in the roadway near East Walnut Street and South Campus Avenue, according to the OPD media report. The male was cited and given a ride home.

On Aug. 4, just after 8 a.m., a female reported three of the tires on her vehicle were slashed by someone, according to the OPD media report.

On Aug. 4, just after 12:30 p.m., Fox Cleaners reported a customer left the store without paying for alterations made to her clothes, according to the OPD media report.

On Aug. 5 at 10 a.m., an accident between two vehicles occurred in the parking lot of Speedway, according to the OPD media report. The driver of the vehicle who struck the other vehicle left the scene without leaving his information. The driver was located and arrested for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

On Aug. 6, just after 7:30 p.m., a male reported being a victim of extortion, according to the OPD media report.

On Aug. 9, just before 2:30 a.m., a male reported his car was taken without permission and damaged in an accident, according to the OPD media report.

On Aug. 9, just after 8 a.m., officers responded to a vandalism report from a caller in an apartment in the 600 block of South Locust Street, according to the OPD media report. The caller said a tire on his vehicle was slashed, and that this is the second time the incident has occurred, according to the incident report. There were no suspects at the time of the report.

Also during the week, OPD responded to a report of an injured deer that was later euthanized.
