The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 8 at Township Hall. The Trustees reviewed and approved regular monthly financial reports as presented by Fiscal Officer Roger VanFrank.

The Trustees approved an annual resolution that confirms the Township’s policy of providing reimbursement of health insurance premium payments to elected officials and full time employees. These persons are eligible for up to $800 per month for families or $400 per month for individuals, provided that the health plan meets Affordable Health Care Act (ACA) minimum requirements. The Trustees also approved the 2026 schedule of meetings and holidays.

Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported that he has 181 tons of salt on hand, which should be enough for the remainder of 2025. He is completing the inspection of all traffic and marker signs, and is reviewing the County Engineer’s culvert list for completeness and accuracy. He reported that he found a new company to provide material and equipment for his annual pavement cracksealing program; he is realizing a 10% savings.

Police Chief Patrick Piccioni reported that in the month, ending Dec. 8, the department received 442 calls for service, made 103 traffic stops resulting in 11 citations and 13 charges, took eight reports, made two arrests and responded to 13 calls for assistance to other area agencies. He explained his options for replacing outdated radar systems in the police cruisers. The new equipment will be portable rather than installed in the cruisers, which will allow all officers to share fewer units. A sample unit will be field tested before purchase. He also intends to purchase a replacement pole-mounted speed sign. Piccioni will apply through the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for a Safe Streets and Roads For All (SS4A) grant to cover the costs of both the radar equipment and the speed sign.

The Township’s electric aggregation consultant reported that Township residents (in the unincorporated area) who are participating in the aggregation program and who are served by Duke have saved an average of $327.41 between July 2024 and September 2025 as compared to non-participants. For those residents who are served by AES Ohio, the average savings has been $494.83.

Following discussion in executive session, the Trustees approved a 3% increase in wages for all Township employees.

The next meeting of the Oxford Township Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec.  29 at Township Hall. This meeting is held annually to deal with end-of-year insurance and financial matters. The first 2026 regular meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12. Virtual attendance is possible for both meetings.
