Oxford unveils new mural at future Amtrak platform
“This mural will serve as a visual gateway along a forthcoming pedestrian path to the future home of our Amtrak platform.”
The City of Oxford and the Oxford Public Arts Commission (PACO) hosted an unveiling ceremony for the city’s newest mural on Oct. 7, 2026, at the Chestnut Street Station.
The mural was created in collaboration with the City of Oxford, PACO and the Talawanda School District.
Andrey Kravtsov, of the group Key Detail, created and painted the mural.
“Thanks so much for this opportunity,” Kravtsov said.
Alex French, city councilor and vice mayor for the City of Oxford, spoke about the mural and the mind behind it.
“Andrey’s been working quickly and quietly on this mural without sacrificing attention to detail and (the) quality of the art,” French said. “He completed the design in just three days, while also applying … weather- and graffiti-resistant coatings.”
Additionally, Kravtsov had time to teach a 2-hour workshop with a group of students from Kramer Elementary. During the workshop, Kravtsov helped students learn about spray painting techniques and even experience creating their own mini murals.
“This mural will serve as a visual gateway along a forthcoming pedestrian path to the future home of our Amtrak platform,” French said. “That will be the first new stop on the cardinal line since the 1970s.”
The mural features a cardinal, prominently on display in the center of the mural. Additionally, Miami University’s Verlin L. Pulley Bell Tower and Oxford’s High Street clock are featured on each end.
“(The mural) highlights the gown and town relationship between the university and the city,” French added.

Key Detail, a husband and wife duo based in New York, designed the mural.
