“Whether it’s providing significantly expanded dental access to Medicaid patients or launching Ohio’s first telepharmacy, we’re removing barriers to care and finding innovative ways to better serve our communities.”

Primary Health Solutions, a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center in Southwest Ohio, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newly-available services in Oxford on Tuesday, Aug. 4,  during National Health Center Week.

The National Health Center Week’s theme this year is building innovative care where it matters most, according to Stephen Roller, president and CEO of Primary Health Solutions.

“(The center) is more than an expansion of services,” Roller said. “It is an investment into the health of this community.”

The TriHealth building, located at 10 N. Locust St., will house these new services and now offer telepharmacy as well as dental services for Oxford residents that can be covered by Medicaid, as previously reported by the Oxford Free Press.

Part of this expansion celebrates the first and only telepharmacy in Ohio, which is “an innovative model that connects patients with licensed pharmacists through secure video consultations while prescriptions are filled and dispensed locally,” according to the press release.

During the ribbon cutting, Roller added that the telepharmacy will create new opportunities to “connect patients with medications, pharmacist support, counseling and healthcare services without the barriers that often accompany transportation challenges or long travel distances.”

The key part of these new services is the impact it will have on Oxford locals, Roller said, as it will provide them additional healthcare options within city limits.

“Whether it’s providing significantly expanded dental access to Medicaid patients or launching Ohio’s first telepharmacy,” Roller said, “we’re removing barriers to care and finding innovative ways to better serve our communities.”
