OPD cites individuals for selling alcohol to minors, reports hazing, more in busy week
The Oxford Police Department also responded to several reports of theft.
The Oxford Police Department (OPD) responded to several alcohol related offenses, including the selling of alcohol to minors, between April 6 and 13. OPD also received a report of alleged hazing.
On April 6, just after 8:30 a.m., a male contacted OPD to make a fraud report, according to the OPD media report. He said that a loan was taken out in his name without his prior knowledge or consent, according to the incident report. There are no suspects at this time.
On April 6, just before 4:30 p.m., a bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack at the apartments on 518 S. Main St., according to the OPD media report.
On the night of April 6, officers responded to several addresses for reports of hazing, according to the OPD media report. Just before 11 p.m., OPD received an anonymous call with vague information about hazing taking place at one of three locations, according to the incident report.
Officers were allowed to enter the first two houses by residents and found no evidence of hazing.
At the third location, officers were denied access, and they informed the residents that the fraternity would be reported to Miami University’s Office of Community Standards, according to the incident report.
Another anonymous call to OPD was made soon after regarding hazing at this third location. Again, officers requested entry and were denied. The Office of Community Standards has been notified.
On April 8, just before 3 p.m., a female reported her front license plate missing, according to the OPD media report.
On April 8, just before 9 p.m., two juvenile males near South Main and Walnut streets were found to have marijuana, alcohol and vapes, according to the OPD media report.
On April 9, just before 3:30 a.m., an unknown person stole three lawn chairs from the front porch of a house in the 100 block of East Withrow Street, according to the OPD media report.
On April 10, just after midnight, a heavily intoxicated and underage female was cited and transported to the hospital by the Oxford Fire Department, according to the OPD media report.
On April 10, just before 2:30 p.m., a male reported he believed his wallet was stolen from his vehicle, according to the OPD media report. The male said he was inside McDonald’s on South Locust Street for about an hour, and left his wallet in his unlocked car, according to the incident report. Later, he was unable to locate it.
On April 10, between 7:42-9:08 p.m., cashiers at Red Ox Drive-Thru and Speedway, and a bartender at 15 E. High St. were cited for selling alcohol to an underage person, according to the OPD media report.
On April 11, just before 2:30 a.m., a female was observed carrying an open alcohol container in the 0 block of West High Street, according to the OPD media report. She was found to be underage and in possession of fictitious identification.
On April 11, just after 11:30 a.m., someone reported the theft of several items, including a credit card, while visiting Brick Street Bar, according to the OPD media report.
On April 11, just before 4 p.m., a diffuser necklace was stolen from Wild Berry by an unknown female, according to the OPD media report.
On April 11, just after 5:30 p.m., two males walking on South Main Street were cited for open containers of alcohol, according to the OPD media report.
On April 11, just before 11 p.m., officers completed a bar check in the 0 block of North Poplar Street, according to the OPD media report. An individual was cited for underage alcohol consumption and having fictitious identification and was later released.
On April 12, just before 12:30 a.m., an individual in the 0 block of North Poplar Street was cited for underage alcohol consumption, possessing fictitious identification and having an open container of alcohol, according to the OPD media report.
Also during the week, OPD responded to reports of unruly juveniles.
