Oxford Township discusses moratorium
The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on June 8 at Township Hall.
The trustees reviewed and approved financial reports for the previous month and unanimously passed a resolution to oppose the elimination of property tax. The trustees also approved a request to the Butler County Board of County Commissioners to enact a 12-month moratorium on the approval of any application for a zoning certificate for a data center under the Butler County Rural Zoning Resolution.
Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported that reparation for paving is underway on Kehr Road and Booth Road. Additionally, Smith reported that Bonham Road is closed due to construction at Shadowy Hills Road. Smith also shared that township residents cannot put signs on state and county roads. Smith is also working on the broken fence at the Oxford Township cemetery.
Police Chief Patrick Piccioni reported that in the month ending June 9, the department received 538 calls for service, of which 285 were business/vacation home checks/extra patrol requests; made 108 traffic stops; made 10 arrests and responded to 28 calls for assistance to other area agencies. The department has received five applications for six open part-time positions and one full-time position.
The next meeting of the Oxford Township Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, at Township Hall. Virtual attendance is possible through the Oxford Township webpage.
